E.C.C.S. Charity Donation for 2008/09 Season
For the 2008/09 season, the Club decided to make
a donation to the Thien Phuoc Orphanage Foundation. This charity
provides accommodation & support to children from 2 to 13 years of
age, and who suffer from a range of physical & mental illnesses that
require constant care and treatment.
Thien Phuoc was set-up 5 years ago to offer support to children that
would not otherwise be able to receive it. 60 children currently
receive treatment at the Center, and they now have plans to open a
larger facility in Can Tho, which they hope will be completed in
2011.
The English Cricket Club is proud to support Thien Phuoc, and hopes
that a donation of 20million VND will help the Organisation continue
to provide vital care and support to those that need it. For more
information on the Orphanage and the work they do please visit

All donations made by the E.C.C.S. would not be possible without the
generous support of its sponsors
E.C.C.S. Charity Donation for 2007/08 Season

The charity that was chosen for 2008 was
Operation Smile Vietnam and the club donated 20,000,000 VND, enough
to allow 13 Vietnamese children to have a life changing facial
operation.
Since 1989, Operation Smile Vietnam has been working
to transform the future for thousands of children whose day-to-day
experience was to be shunned, feared, ridiculed and isolated because of
their deformities.
In Vietnam, a simple surgery to repair a cleft
lip/palate on a young child costs as little as US$75 – but it’s hard to
put a figure on the results – they extend beyond the individual child,
touching the lives of the family, the village and beyond.
Operation Smile Vietnam provides free
surgeries for children with facial deformities and medical development
programs through local and international teams of professional
volunteers. It is the local organization of
Operation Smile International, a US based non-profit, that provides
similar programs in 29 countries.
E.C.C.S. Charity Donation for 2007/08 Season

The chosen charity for 2007 was
Wildlife at Risk (WAR). This charity was chosen by the club and it's
corporate sponsors as they were keen to support a charity that was
addressing local needs and demonstrably working for the benefit of
Vietnam.
Wildlife At Risk (WAR) is a non-profit organization,
based in Ho Chi Minh City, and active throughout the southern provinces
of Vietnam. WAR is governed by trustees and staffed by experienced
international and Vietnamese professionals.
Why are we here?
Vietnam’s wildlife faces a desperate fight for survival in
the 21st century. Without urgent intervention, many of the country’s
endangered species will soon be wiped out. They are being driven to
extinction by habitat loss, hunting, pollution and, above all, the
flourishing illegal wildlife trade.
What do we do?
WAR is dedicated to the long-term conservation of Vietnam’s threatened
biodiversity. It aims to reduce the pressure on Vietnam’s wildlife by
helping to build local capacity to implement legislation, raise
environmental awareness and develop alternatives to the unsustainable
exploitation of Vietnam’s natural resources.
How do we work?
A principal characteristic of WAR’s approach is that it responds to
locally identified priorities, rather than imposing its own
predetermined agenda.
The official presentation took place at Vasco's Bar and Restaurant on
Friday 14th September and a cheque for 10,000,000.00 VND was presented
to the charity.
